The Dual Band Trapped Dipole is a centre fed wire antenna that uses high quality traps and 1:1 Balun that are designed to permit operation on the 80m, 40m, & 15m amateur DX bands. The antenna is ideal for DX communications depending on how high the antenna is mounted and in what configuration. If you're new to the HF bands and want to try a bit of DX hunting or rag chewing, why not experiment with this antenna first. Alternatively, when the antenna is mounted at height, 6m to 8m and well in the clear, this antenna will permit DX contacts to be made. This antenna can be mounted in a flat top configuration or as an inverted V. For the size, weight and cost, we simply do not think there is a better performing antenna when the user is limited to a single or wire type antenna. Multi-band, high performance with utmost simplicity and ease of use. You will not be disappointed.

Specifications

The 80/40/15m Trapped wire dipole features include:

  1. Operating bands 80m 40m & 15m

  2. Max Operating power 600W PEP, 300W Digital continuous

  3. Typical impedance 40 ohm - 60 ohm (depending on installation height and configuration)

  4. Gain0.0

  5. VSWR 1.5:1 (typical)

  6. Total length of dipole 24m and fully adjustable.

  7. Wire used is 1.6mm G304 Stainless steel

  8. Trap and balun windings all copper

Antenna Design and Components

The Trapped dipole is a simple yet effective multi-frequency antenna. Light weight but strong multi-stranded G304 stainless steel wire is used for longevity. It's also important to note that the overall length of this dipole will be shorter than a regular (untrapped) 80 metre dipole due to the inductance of the traps.  Trap design and build standard are critical to the performance of this antenna. All terminations are crimped with copper crimps and stainless wire clamps are used for adjustments of dipole lengths if required.Light weight traps utilised.
